Most, if not all, applications, have a data platform. As such, application architects, developers, and Administrators should be aware of the many different options of where to locate their data; On-premises (SQL Server), Azure IaaS (SQL Server), and the many deployment models (Singleton, Elastic Pool, and Managed Instance) of Azure PaaS (SQL Database). We will review decision points, as well as gotchas, and even examine HADR options of SQL in the cloud.
